Tribeca: 1960's Park Place & Washington Streets

When the fruit and produce wholesalers moved to the Hunts PointTerminal Market in the Bronx., the area that they had occupied in Manhattan (Washington Market) became Tribeca. This photo was taken at the intersection of Park Place and Washington Street. This intersection no longer exists; Washington Street now stops at the World Trade Center site.and then resumes again at Hubert Street and Park Place stops at Greenwich Street. The photo has great detail and the prices for parking are readable. Monthly parking was $35 and the hourly rate was $1 for the first hour and then 50 cents for the next hour and then 25 cents for each additional hour; the maximum charge for 8am-6pm was $2.
