NYC-6th Avenue Looking North From 27th St. 1911
This photo was taken om March 16, 1911. On the far corner, 28th Street, is the Parker Hotel. Some of the other businesses on the block are the Nail Bros. Restaurant, Mrs. M.A. Marshall Employment Agency, several furriers, and Mouquins, a French restaurant that was a favorite of the theatrical and writing crowd. It was the subject of William Glackens' 1905 painting, "At Mouquin's". Bartolomeo Vanzetti, of Sacco & Vanzetti fame, worked there as a dish-washer for 8 months. The stairs to the 28th Street 6th Avenue EL can also be seen at the corner.
